About Us
We are a small hobby kennel that
takes dogs seriously. Myself (Susan) and husband Grant live
on a 3.5 acre hobby farm in Cobble Hill, a rural community
on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. The house and property were
planned with the dogs in mind - secure fencing, room to run,
clean comfortable quarters. We also breed and raise Narragensett
and Bronze turkeys, Ameraucauna chickens (blue egg layers),
Fife canaries, as well as a few Dorset sheep that help keep
the grass trimmed.
Our three children grew up with the dogs; all learned how
to walk hanging onto an Akita's neck and spent hours exploring
with a shiba as scout. They are all grown up now, but enjoy
coming home to vist with the dogs. Our middle daughter Rowan
took over show handling duties many years ago (I was fired!)
so it is her you will see in the ring with our dogs.
Our Background in Dogs
We became involved in purebred dogs in 1974, when the
first Akita arrived. Starting in obedience, we soon ventured
into the conformation ring, and never looked back. In 1984
the Shiba breed joined us, and in 1997 the Japanese Chin.
For 34 years we have been involved in conformation, obedience,
agility, breeding, public education, rescue, health research,
and all the other activites being an involved dog fancier
entails.
I have taught both conformation and obedience classes; have
held various positions in breed and all breed clubs; presented
all three breeds for conformation judges seminars; and become
a conformation judge myself. I am CKC licensed for the Working
and Toy Groups, and on permit (provisional) for 1/2 of the
Non-Sporting Group.

Breeding Principles'.
